Lugwig Schuncke Dissertation
Ruskin Cooper received the Outstanding Dissertation Award at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1996 for his dissertation, Robert Schumann’s Closest “Jugendfreund”: Ludwig Schuncke (1810-1834) and His Piano Music. The work was revised and published in a English-German version in 1997 by Fischer & Partner, Hamburg. Pianist, composer and writer Ludwig Schuncke was the dedicatee of Schumann’s magnificent Toccata op. 7, and was a co-founder of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, which still exists today.
